Felis Demens

Abandoned on my door step on December 31, 2015  Felis has served as my mascot and motivator while writing Conquering the Fear. It should come as no surprise that part of the proceeds will be donated to animal welfare and military veteran organizations. I am hoping that my example can teach other business owners about community responsibility.

The New Era of Efficiency

The message is still the same, Profit is the Byproduct of Efficiency. I have spoken that phrase hundreds of times since the late 1990's. It is time for the world to hear it again.

Profit is the Byproduct of Efficiency. This has been my catch phrase for many years. Now it is presented to you in book format. Yes, you are correct in assuming that I can now nag about process improvement and system efficiency on multiple media platforms. Nothing is sacred at this point. If a movie gets released about it, you can rest assured that I will try to get Patrick Stewart to play my role. Perhaps I should have tried that gimmick a few decades ago. That would have gotten people to pay more attention about efficiency.

I commented months ago about the New Era of efficiency. "The change which brings forth the new era is not the message, it is the methods I will be using to provide the message."  This book is the first of the Profit is the Byproduct of Efficiency Series. It addresses why people are reluctant to embrace efficiency measure. It brings fears to the surface and demonstrates that fear is the largest hurtle one must overcome when dealing with process improvements.

In addition, I have removed all traces of that archaic language known as mathematics. Instead, I have opted to introduce the concepts in order to help people better understand the role of process improvement engineers without being too caught up in the actual science of it.

A Humorous Fact

Conquering the Fear was never a planned part of the Profit is the Byproduct of Efficiency Series. It was conceived after a quarter of Book One was completed. I realized while writing the first book that people was never going to focus too much on efficiency unless they could conquer their fear of efficiency.

Even after being designed, I was not sure whether to include it as part of the series or leave it as a side book. Ultimately, several of my closest advisors felt it best to include it as the primer for the series. Hence, Profit is the Byproduct of Efficiency: Conquering the Fear was created.
